Volunteering with Cleveland United Travel Soccer

North Carolina Youth Soccer Association (NCYSA) requires that all Adult and Minor Participants — coaches (paid and volunteer), assistant coaches, substitute coaches, team managers, club and association staff, board members, and all volunteers — must register with NCYSA and fulfill certain required elements every seasonal year. NCYSA seasonal years run from Fall to Spring.

Risk Management & SafeSport Training

Everything required to participate with NCYSA — background checks, SafeSport training, photo, waivers, and more are now all completed through your PlayMetrics account.

All Adult and Minor Participants — coaches (paid and volunteer), assistant coaches, substitute coaches, team managers, club and association staff, board members, and all volunteers — must register with NCYSA and fulfill certain required elements every seasonal year. NCYSA seasonal years run from Fall to Spring.

Registering with NCYSA is how NCYSA knows exactly who is on the field with our registered minor athletes each seasonal year and ensures that everyone has gone through the proper vetting and training process.

NCYSA cannot create this account for you. Our Volunteers must complete the Coaches & Volunteers Registration on TeamSnap. This is the email address that will be used to add you to Cleveland United’s PlayMetrics account.

EFFECTIVE WITH THE 2024-2025 SEASONAL YEAR

  • Athletes that are 18 years old or older at time of registration will not be eligible to participate (this includes training), their name will not appear on the team roster and their player pass will not be generated until they have completed the NCYSA Adult Athlete RM application and have been approved by NCYSA.
  • Athletes that are 17 years old and will turn 18 during the current seasonal year
    • All athletes that are 17 years old or older at time of registration will not be eligible to participate in any NCYSA sanctioned event (this includes, but is not limited to, training, practice, scrimmages, games, and tournaments) until they have completed the NCYSA Adult Athlete Risk Management application and have been approved for participation by NCYSA. Their name will only appear on the team roster and their player pass will only be generated once they have been approved for participation.
    • Athletes that are not yet 18 years old will need to obtain parental/guardian permission to complete the NCYSA Adult Athlete Risk Management application and to complete the SafeSport training.

There is NO GRACE PERIOD.

Effective with the 2026–27 seasonal year, all Adult and Minor Participants will first need to be added to Cleveland United’s PlayMetrics account. Once your account is created, you will receive an email link to verify it. Once verified, you will be prompted to complete the required elements for participation. Please reach out to info@gcaatravelsoccer.com if you have not received your email with the link to your PlayMetrics account.

Steps For Completing Risk Management through PlayMetrics

Coaches will no longer self-register to complete this process and will be invited by the Cleveland United Registrar.

  1. All Volunteers must complete the Coaches & Volunteers Registration on TeamSnap first.
  2. You will receive an email to proceed to the next steps
    • Sender: noreply@gbmail.playmetrics.com
    • Subject line: "Welcome to PlayMetrics as a member for club Greater Cleveland Athletic Association"
  3. Create a PlayMetrics account OR login to your existing account
  4. You'll then be directed to a screen which shows your name and the organization name
  5. Click the Pencil to edit
  6. Confirm that your legal name is appearing and if it is not your legal name, update as necessary
  7. Complete the fields under Personal Information - including address, date of birth, and gender. (We realize it says those items are "optional" but they are required by NCYSA.)
  8. Then click Complete Requirements
  9. Upload your Member Photo.
    1. TIP: Photo must be a forward-facing headshot without any head gear, sunglasses or have other people in it - else it will be denied.

  11. Clearances - SafeSport:
    1. Upload your SafeSport training certificate [see SafeSport Instructions]

  13. RETURN to PlayMetrics
    1. Please note: It may take a few minutes for the Background Screening to change from Incomplete to Complete in order for you to submit. When you hit submit, if you receive an error, wait a few moments, then click submit again.
    2. When it has background refreshed, Yes, Submit Requirements will appear and allow you to do so to finalize the submission.
  14. Your membership status will appear as In Review.
  15. After submitting all the requirements, you will be able to see your verification status on the main page in your Member role in your PlayMetrics account.
